Homemade pita chips are an easy to make snack. While I prefer to use homemade pita bread to make my chips, this batch of chips were made with store bought pita bread.
For me the biggest advantage of making my own chips is I can control the oil and salt added to the chips. I find the commercial chips a bit too salty for my taste.
These chips need very few ingredients. Three to be exact. All you need are pita bread, oil and salt.
Start by cutting your pita bread into rectangles. You can also cut them into wedges. It’s a matter of preference. I prefer the rectangular shape.
To make the cutting easy, use a pizza wheel. Depending on the thickness of your pita bread you can also stack two at a time and cut them together.
Line a sheet pan with foil and brush on a little oil, or use a spray can of oil and coat the pan evenly.
Next, add the pita slices and spritz them with a little oil.
Sprinkle salt and toss to coat.
Spread out the chips evenly on the pan.
Bake in a 350 degree preheated over for about 10 to 15 min. Allow to cool and serve with a dip.
While hummus makes for a great dip, these are also great with any of the more chunky dips like a spinach dip or artichoke dip.
Also try them with chicken salad, or any other creamy non pasta based salads.
